Welshpool Funday 2009 - Great success

Welshpool Funday 2009

 Saturday 26th September, Maesydre School Grounds, 10.30am to 4.30pm.

Oldford Communities First worked closely with the Welshpool Neighbourhood Policing Team to host the event. The aim of the day was for people to enjoy themselves whilst also learning more about the 999 emergency services and the work that they do.

The Funday was officially opened by her Worship the Mayor, Cllr Ann Holloway accompanied by Powys County Councils ‘Stay Alive Clive’ from the Road Safety Team and the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Services Mascot.

Welshpool Funday 2009 was a great success with a turnout of over 1200 visitors and over 90 entries to the Fun Dog Show!

There were free activities for all the family including the Army Assault course, the X-Treme Trampoline, Bouncy Castle and Bungee Run, and plenty of stalls.

The 999 Emergency Services demonstration re-created a road traffic accident where the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue service worked efficiently alongside the Ambulance service and Police to attend to the recreated incident. There was also an attendance by M.E.Ds (Medical Emergency Doctor.

This event showcased the success of organisations working in partnership for the local community.
