NEW OPENING DAY FOR THE CREDIT UNION IN MACHYNLLETH

6th Oct 2009

Commencing on Wednesday 7th October, The Robert Owen Credit Union in partnership with Bro Ddyfi Communities First is changing its day and hours of opening from Friday afternoon to Wednesday between 1.00pm and 3.00pm.

The Credit Union desk will remain at its current location at the main Bro Ddyfi Communities First Office, Yr Hen Siop (The Old Shop), on the Bryn-y-Gog Estate in Machynlleth and will continue to offer its services to existing members and those wishing to join.

Cyril Evans, the Bro Ddyfi Communities First Coordinator explained “As Wednesday is market day more people from the surrounding villages are in town, meaning that the new arrangements will enable people to visit the market, do some shopping at some of the excellent shops in Machynlleth, and deal with financial matters all on the same day, thereby avoiding an extra journey.”

The partnership between Communities First and the Credit Union is a very successful one which has benefited many local people who are either looking for an ethical alternative to the High Street Banks or searching for affordable credit. Among the services offered by the Credit Union are low interest loans with flexible repayment terms, flexible savings, help with budgeting, energy advice, payment of bills and free life insurance. Payments can be made at the office, by standing order, paypoint or by having your benefits or wages paid in directly.

Appointments can also be made to see debt and benefit advisors in an arrangement the credit union has with Bro Ddyfi Advice Centre.

For those who are unable to attend the office on Wednesday afternoons, please contact the credit union on 01686 623741 or e mail office@romcul.co.uk  for further information.
